This week is my last one working at a small daycare where I have been for the last year and a half. To show my love for the kids, I made them each a dinosaur stuffed animal with a different pattern of cloth suited to their interests and personality. Because every kid needs at least one weird, random handicraft, right?
"War and Peace in Modern Dance" was originally conceived on a rainy day circa 2002 or 2003. Now that we are grown up and sophisticated (and also one of us has actually read Tolstoy's masterpiece), Genie and I finally decided to fully realize the potential of this piece, which can also be taken as a metaphor for the US's role in destabilizing the Middle East, OR our very own relationship as sisters while growing up. The stills below are from April 4th's "Literary Foolery Clown Cabaret" at Pianofight, San Francisco.
